Hello. I haven't vanished into thin air ;)

I've just been distracted with work and school and parenting and the house and travel planning and trying to be a good friend and family member along the way. That.

You know what it's like.

I haven't even been using my camera much! Well, at least not my SLR to be more precise. My iPhone is always on the go (I regularly upload pix onto my facebook page - please pop over and say hello if you haven't already done so!). I did however, take some photos at the beach recently - trying to savour the winter sunshine - I just haven't found the time to blog them yet. Except this one obviously *smile*. Maybe I'll post the others in the next few days. Oui?

How's the change of season treating you in your part of the world? Amber.x

Young Architects in our Midst

Does anyone have Kapla blocks?

We don't. But we have been lucky to stay at a particular hotel twice now that has a big set in the foyer for kids - and adults, I'm sure! - to play with.

I have to say that they are a HUGE hit with my family.

What a cool way to foster early engineering and architectural interest and skills. Through play.

How high can your design go?

Like father like son :)

Oh oh!

And they all came tumbling down. The end ;)

Well not quite the end. Rather, the beginning... play can be one of the most formative experiences in our lives. Hug already has an interest in architecture, design and engineering. The TV show Grand Designs has long been one of our family's favourite shows and Hug has watched it since he was very little. He's also always shown signs of strong visual-spacial awareness. So, playing with blocks like these adds another layer to an already piqued interest. And who knows were that might take him...?

Travel planning: UK

Getting my mapping skills on!

I got quite a bit of travel planning over the weekend. Have more of the UK locked down, though Bath & Oxford are proving hard to find affordable family accommodation. Hmmm...
